Everyday Tips for losing weight

When you know you have eaten enough and should not go back for seconds - then either get a piece of gum or a dinner mint.  This will change the taste in your mouth and stop the craving for more of the "real" food.

 

Drink water!!! How many times have we been told this?  Well - it's true! Water will make you feel fuller and many of the times you think you are hungry, you're really not - thirst and hunger pains are so similar that most people cannot tell the difference until they are dehydrated.

 

Use a smaller plate or bowl.  Yes, I know this sounds silly, but try it.  It really works!

 

Never go below 1200 calories per day. It will send your body into starvation mode, and your metabolism will slow, causing you to stop losing weight.

 

Eat slowly and enjoy your food. Try setting the fork down between bites. You will find you'll get fuller faster, and have a more enjoyable meal.

 

Take control of what you eat, rather than letting the food control you. Make deliberate choices, rather than impulsive ones, and you'll have nothing to feel guilty about later.

 

Don't become obsessed with the scale. It is a good basic guide to follow for checking progress, but there are many other ways of measuring progress. How do your clothes fit? Have your measurements changed?

 

Treat yourself with nonfood items, either for reaching goals, or just to make yourself feel good. A massage, manicure or new hairstyle can go a long way toward lifting spirits.

 

Never go shopping on an empty stomach!
